I just got a new iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's replacing an iPhone 7S. I forgot where I may have read it, but I faintly remember it saying to keep the new SIM card instead of using the 7S SIM to install on the new 12 Pro Max. I'm an AT&T customer. What's the best policy?

In general it’s been suggested to use the new 5G SIM card (especially if you are planning to actually use 5G service). Using the new one does not affect your old iPhone. It’s possible 5G will still work with the old one but using the new one would be a good idea versus guessing.

No! You will not lose anything if using new NANO Sim. You suppose to periodically backup your iPhone 7, for data storage. I’m on AT&T, and using NANO Sim from my old iPhone 6, in my new iPhone 12 Pro Max with no issues. Also, there is no AT&T 5G service in my location, so I’ll deal with 5G later.

So I actually went to their physical place of business today, and they were as unhelpful as ever.
I think I need to contact them another way.
What are the consequences to just have them activate the new SIM on my new 12 Pro Max iPhone, and deactivate the SIM on my old 7S iPhone? I will eventually erase the 7S anyway...

But, I am so SIM deficient; what do I lose or gain with an old SIM card? That is my one kryptonite tech weakness.

No such thing as iPhone 7S. But what other people wrote. Also, more importantly if you have AT&T 5G service in your area.
