I had a 64GB iphone 8Plus and now have a 256GB 12 Pro iphone and keep getting the message "Transfer Cannot be Completed" because there is not enough storage upon trying to set up the 12 Pro. How can I resolve without backing up to laptop or cloud? I have unpaired my watch already and that didn't help.
If you live close enough to an Apple Store and they are still open, you could try a Genius Bar appointment to get direct assistance from Apple. That would be the best I can recommend at this point, given the steps you have already taken. Good luck.
How are you trying to transfer the content? Are you attempting to restore a backup of the old phone to the new phone? Were you attempting to use the Quick Start? And the error message is not enough storage?
Yes - restarted both. Nada. Made sure both are on same iOS version. Tried again... no dice. Chat sessions & Calls to ‘support’ while nice people, are useless- got disconnected from level 2 - very convenient timing. Super frustrating. Spent 2 hours troubleshooting. Ridiculous.
gonna HAVE TO pay for iCloud upgrade to back up, since I have a PC for my laptop and don’t want iTunes on it. That’s a great ‘gotcha’ Apple!!! Then have to downgrade back since I don’t want them owning all my photos, etc.... aaaarrrrrgh.
Yes - I was using Quick Start option and told there is Not enough storage on my new, much larger storage capacity phone. Very odd to me.

That is very strange. Did you try restarting the devices and doing it again, or did you decide to use a backup restore?
