My Messages app on the Mac platform won't keep up to date with messages sent on my iPhone. This wasn't an issue until after updating to MacOS Big Sur. Anyone else having this problem and know of a workaround?

Try logging out of icloud and messages on the mac. log back in to icloud and messages. ensure text forwarding is selected for the mac on the iphone, then resync the messages on the mac. I have found that some messages missed while the text forwarding was off arent recoverable.
The solution here took care of it.. many settings seem to have changed with recent privacy and data sharing updates.
I had the exact same issue and thought maybe it was a one off, flipping it back on worked for me as well. I wonder if it isn't tied to iOS instead though. Mac OS shouldn't have had any impact on the setting flipping back. Still a pretty odd situation.
