Same here. After updating Safari to 14.0.1 I was unable to upload any files. Called Apple support on 11/16/2020. They had me on hold for 45 minutes. When they finally connected me with a technician, I was on the line with him for another 40 minutes and resolved nothing. He suggested that I install Chrome or Firefox. Unbelievable, Apple installs a crappy update, they can’t fix it, and their solution is to install someone else’s software.
Hi Katshafer and everyone else!
I'd heard that was a solution, but for me and maybe others that's likely to open another can of worms. I'm into music production and there are still plug ins I use which aren't Catalina compatible, even a year on!
So be careful!
Thanks for update Tootsall.
It s nonsense for Apple to suggest moving browser, they should just fix what they broke.
I can't go to Catalina as I have 32bit apps that aren't supported, so I'm stuck for now with mojave
Having the same issue and had to use Chrome. Apple you are really slipping. Multiple problems in updates across devices. What happened to the company led by Jobs where everything had to be tested and working before being released? People are watching so take note because they will move....
There was the same problem with Crome. Buttons on some sites were not working. However, Google intervened in this problem very quickly and fixed it with the 87.0.4280.88 update. Apple should fix this problem very quickly.
Me too: Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. Have not tried my iMac yet.
Mojave 10.14.6 Safari 14.0.1 Cannot upload to FTP sites or Google Drive. Also cannot attach in Gmail. It won't go to the Browse step and show any of my files.
I was thinking about an Apple Watch for Christmas, but with this and my wife's 3 year old iPad gathering dust, I'm having second thoughts about Apple IN GENERAL.
I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. A week to 10 days ago, I stopped being able to upload files through Safari, or photos on Facebook. Called support yesterday. My Mac won't be able to accept any new updates.
RESOLVED my issue by (after backing up) reinstalling the OS to Mojave 10.14.6
Yes, that seems to be the "solution"...reinstalling Mojave or installing Catalina automatically loads the older, 13.1.3 version of Safari. I was always hesitant to "leave" Mojave since it had always been really reliable and I'm wary of "new and improved" until it's been proven out for a year or more but I can say that Catalina seems to work OK. There are differences, however (especially in that "iTunes" is now changed to "Music") and as a result, iPhone and iPad device backup looks a lot different as well.
Hi @DanBGraphics
you’re looking in the right place, click the “+” sign at the right end of the thread - a pop up should appear that says you are “following” - if you click on it and then check it again you’ll see it switched to just “follow”
Absolutely infuriating. For them to do this during finals week and when all graduate school applications are do is criminal. Everything needs to be uploaded online because of COVID. This is the final straw as a Safari user.
Great find, Bladerunner! So it is just the presentation of the Finder file selection dialog that is not happening and nothing deeper in terms of broken security settings. At least this makes Safari usable again. Thank you.
One workaround (if the website you're using supports it) is to use drag and drop from the Finder rather than browse/ upload. This works fine for me in outlook (office365 browser version), prestophoto and other web systems in the institution I work for.
Now that 14.0.2 is out, it would be nice to know if it fixes this issue on Mojave. Not going to try and then being forced to reinstall the system to downgrade Safari to 14.0... Release notes being as useful as usual... :-(
Apple's updates today did not fix it for me. I still can not upload or attach files unless in some cases I can drag and drop them. Wow, a major problem with Safari. I took ptjunior’s advice and wrote a polite and factual email to Tim Cook. You would think this is something they would be all over, otherwise folks like me will move to Chrome or Firefox permanently.
So now, Safari 14.0.2 has been released along with another security update.
I never installed Safari 14.0.0, but now the new security update shows and BOTH Safari 14.0.1 and Safari 14.0.2 are listed in software update. What a mess..
Going to chrome permanently—just miss the airdrop feature.
Considering how much apple products are, every update is 1000% terrible and apple is always on the slow end of fixing bugs. Using end-user data (user reported glitches and issues) to fix your programming problems is NOT what I’d call “good customer service”.
