Same here. After updating Safari to 14.0.1 I was unable to upload any files. Called Apple support on 11/16/2020. They had me on hold for 45 minutes. When they finally connected me with a technician, I was on the line with him for another 40 minutes and resolved nothing. He suggested that I install Chrome or Firefox. Unbelievable, Apple installs a crappy update, they can’t fix it, and their solution is to install someone else’s software.
Many thanks! After a 90+ min call with Apple support and a good deal of frustration, I managed to re-install Mojave and now my Safari works as it did before. I'll stay clear of the Safari update until Apple figures out how to fix the bug. Thank you again!
Yupp having the same exact issue. Found out when I was trying to attach a file on email. Thought it was some small issue going on with my macbook, it was like this again when I was trying to attach some files in another website. All can be solved by using Chrome.. But please fix this!! Its such a hassle to just attach files to something!
Hi,
Thanks for the useful info. Adobe is retiring Flash at the end of the year by all accounts, so hopefully someone at Google will wake up and do what's necessary to Gmail. In the meantime Chrome is the answer. Convenient, as you say, for Google.
Hello!
I have the same issue. Looking at "Console App" I have found the following:
coreauthd -[ContextProxy evaluatePolicy:options:uiDelegate:originator:reply:]_block_invoke -> (null), Error Domain=com.apple.LocalAuthentication Code=-6 "Biometry is not available on this device." UserInfo={BiometryType=0, NSLocalizedDescription=Biometry is not available on this device.} on <private>
kernel ACM: verifyPolicy: Verifying policy DeviceOwnerAuthenticationWithBiometrics, checkKeybagUUID = No, CS[105].
kernel ACM: verifyPolicy: Policy satisfied = No, preflight = Yes, CS[105].
Safari -[LAClient evaluatePolicy:options:uiDelegate:reply:]_block_invoke -> (null), Error Domain=com.apple.LocalAuthentication Code=-6 "Biometry is not available on this device." UserInfo={BiometryType=0, NSLocalizedDescription=Biometry is not available on this device.} on <private>
I hope it helps in order to fix as soon as possible.
Regards!
It does not affect only GMAIL or YAHOO. It affects any web page where you have to clic on a button to select a file to upload. Including many official sites.
Firefox works great.
What's happening at Apple?
Just went through the process to trouble shoot and discovered I have the same problem as all of you. Hoping that Apple does read all this and fix this bug by Christmas. In the meantime I'll be using Chrome to email attachments.
Just wanted to add that dragging and dropping seems to work. I have tried it on a couple of sites and there was no problem with the upload using that method. However, obviously, not all sites work that way. I still need to test this more.
I updated to Safari 14.01 - using Mojave 10.14.6 on iMac. I can no longer upload files through Safari to websites that I used to be able to upload to. This is really important for me and a major hassle. I hope this is escalated.
Spent some time with Apple Support with this issue. They are starting to become aware of it. Both techs that I spoke with saw this page with with the issue for the first time. I think Apple is working on it. However one of the work arounds I was given was to use the drag and drop method of upload if the website supports it. That does work. If that alternative is not available, then Firefox will allow uploads. Chrome does not. Keeping fingers cross that that a fix will be available soon.
Hello,
When you say: 'click through Mac > then Applications > then Safari'... what does that mean? I went to Support.apple.com and I see a black bar at the very top with 'Mac' in white letters, but that didn't take me to Applications. There is also a Mac icon blow - a line drawing of a screen - but that didn't take me anywhere that said Applications either. No, I am not savvy.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

having this same problem here too. it is a bug with safari 14.0.1. apple's quality control over software is not what it used to be. I have issues with this as well as many other software bugs, such as pages 4.3/'09 being the last version to support non-contiguous text selection. I only mention this here because if you use the app Keyboard Maestro, you can make an automated script that sends apple nearly 4000 feedback form submissions per day—maybe since they won't listen to individual complaints, we can get their attention by flooding their feedback form inboxes with complaints. I've shared this script with others on other forums so I would expect lots of complaints about the bugs ive mentioned as well as this one to get more notice. I am using my script to spam apple about it today so hopefully they get this fixed soon.
Exactly the same issue. Right in the middle of one of the busiest times of the year, and cannot upload files to any e-mail platform using Safari, nor download files from certain work related sites. Utterly appalling negligence by Apple. The update should have been checked and thoroughly tested before wrecking the workflow of hundred's of Apple/Safari users
I'm unable to use the paper clip button to attach files. I've been looking on google and a lot of people is having the same issue after the recent update.
I tried every advice and nothing worked.
Apple has to fix this!
same thing. can't upload in Egress switch, outlook or indeed anything.
Chrome works fine but a pain to switch over logins etc
How embarrassing Apple. Sort it out please. You have standards to uphold.
HI All - I've been having same problem (loading photos up to Ebay)
I've read many of the threads concerning this, and have worked through suggestions.
IT IS NOT A MOJAVE issue as such...following advice above I reloaded Mojave 10.14.6... upload worked fine (using the installed Safari 12.1.2)
IT IS NOT A SECURITY UPDATE issue...following reload of Mojave and Safari 12.1.2, I then in sequence loaded the 2 security updates 2020-005 and 2020-006....again no problem upload worked.
IT IS NOT A MOJAVE SUPPLEMENT ISSUE...... I then added the macOS Mojave Supplemental Update....this introduced Safari 14.0....again no problem uploads continued to work.
IT IS....IT IS....a SAFARI 14.0.1 ISSUE....so finally I added the Safari 14.10.1 update... lo and behold uploads stopped working.
So I have no solution, but my workaround keeps me on Safari 14.0 and therefore functional, 14.0.1 clearly doesn't work with Mojave, and maybe not with Catalina (according to some posts).
Hope this helps... I've logged with Apple Support.
