icloud backup

i am trying to backup my icloud on my iphone 6s, but it wont let me. i purchased the 50gb plan today to get more storage for my iphone 12 but my icloud wont backup. I want to be able to transfer my data through icloud to my new phone.

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

See - If you can't back up to iCloud or restore from iCloud backup failed - Apple Support.
