Is it just me, or is the "new tab" + missing in Safari?

In previous versions of Safari, there was always a little + on the far right of all tabs, if you wanted a new tab you clicked the plus sign. Now, that plus sign is gone and the only way to open a new default tab is to use the command T or the File > New Tab option. I miss the + button )-:

Side note: Does anyone else hate the clock being in the far right of the Menu Bar? For the past, oh I don't know maybe 20 years... my clock has been to the far left of the menu bar items. Now its "stuck" in the far right corner. Ugh.

Dear Apple -

You folks are getting as bad as Microsoft. Why change something that worked just fine? It's the kind of thing that makes users crazy!!! I'm so angry right now. The small tab with a "+" was good and EVERYONE was used to it. Why change???

I just updated and noticed that the "+" has been moved, I'm sure I'll get used to it but the "+" on the far right of the tabs was a much more intuitive location. I must say I'm not happy with the changes to Safari especially the Top Sites being eliminated.

As Apple isn't reading here for suggestions, that's pretty pointless. No one here made the change or can undo it. And no one here has any particular interest in what software you chose to use.

If you want Apple to know of your "disdain", use the feedback page:

It’s important Apple, and other consumers alike know there is not complacency. This is the only route for Apple to return to its promising trajectory of 10 years ago. Innovation has stagnated, and in some respects is on the downturn due to a multitude of minor changes and bugs like this. While I appreciate that this was a change to make the UI more touch screen friendly, that decision is part of precisely this kind of stagnation.

If you think your thoughts are important for Apple to know, tell Apple:

I completely agree! I was using a MacBook Air for work that ran Mohave and now I've just purchased my first MacBook Pro M1 and this tab change is the only thing I truly hate about it! Why remove it from the Tab bar it doesn't make any sense.

You should tell Apple how you feel:

I have moved from an old iMac27 High Sierra (yes this dinosaur has moved on!) to the new M1 Mac mini Big Sur and now miss the tab +. Here is a compromise.....right click top toolbar to customise....add + to the far right after the 'flexible space'. Voila! see image peeps.

Posting so as to also voice my disdain for this very minor but essential change. Up there with Photoshop's removal of the 'fixed free transform' being assigned to shift. Unnecessary, and seemingly hostile to a long standing tradition. I suppose monopolies like these are happy in the knowledge that some of us have limited our own horizons to such an extent that we have no alternative. A shame.

What is the point of you posting your "disdain?"

None of us here care about your disdain, nor can we fix your disdain.

And, why would we care about photoshop?

Your post seems completely unnecessary and hostile.
