This message pops up when trying to launch MS Excel for Mac: Microsoft Excel wants to use your confidential information stored in "Microsoft Office Credentials" in your keychain. Where do I find the "login" keychain password.

I recently downloaded macOS Big Sur. during the setup it offered to update my MS Office for Mac, so I did. Since then the MS Office request for keychain password stays stuck on my screen and MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) will not allow me to open or create files. Can anyone suggest how to reset the MS Office keychain password?

Hey there, swwhitte.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for posting about the trouble you've had with software on your Mac since upgrading to Big Sur. We'd be glad to see how we can help you out.

Is this behavior specific to the Office apps? If so, we did some searching, and we were able to find Microsoft Support - Office for Mac repeatedly requesting keychain access which may be of help to you. If you continue to have issues with this specific set of apps, we'd suggest reaching out to Microsoft Office Support here.

Take care.
