I have two external monitors connected to MacBook Pro. Used to work fine. After Big Sur upgrade the 2nd monitor will not wake up after the computer comes back from sleep mode. If I power down the monitor and turn back on, the MacBook will see it and restore whatever was on the screen before sleep. Any idea how to fix?

In my case, i actually found that removing power from the dock was the only way to jog the second monitor awake. REALLY ANNOYING

I have discovered that if I hook up the two monitors using two separate adaptors, to two different USB-C ports, that the computer will wake them both up. I don't like this solution but at least it is a work-around until the real problem is fixed. Previously I had both monitors running into a single adaptor box.
I also have this problem that just started after the Big Sur upgrade. I am running a LG 5144x1440 monitor with a CalDigit TS3+ so I can have a single connection. The laptop stays closed and I am using the Apple Magic keyboard and mouse. To wake it up, I open the laptop, but even then it has an odd behavior where when I move the pointer on the laptop trackpad around it pauses almost every second, then goes again. The external monitor doesn't wake until a restart the system.
I have a MacBook Pro (2018), a CalDigit TS3+ dock, and two LG 4K monitors. This "monitor wake-up" issue started after the Big Sur upgrade. The only method of recovery that works without resorting to a full reboot is to power-cycle the monitor not waking up by unplugging then plugging it back in. Power-cycling the monitor with the power button does NOT fix the issue for me!
Shame on me for upgrading from a (reasonably) stable system... *sigh*
Same issue here. MacBookPro (2017), dual Asus 4K monitors via Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Express Dock HD. Seamless until Big Sur. Thought maybe version 11.2 might fix it, as a similar (though not identical) issue was mentioned in update notes, but it's actually gotten worse since the update. Any word from Apple on a permanent fix?
Same issue. Well, only one of two external monitors hooked up to my brand new MacMini M1 wake up after putting it to sleep.
as of yet, only a restart solves this problem.
a real nuisance when in the middle of a photo edit with a vital app on each screen.
I have the same / similar issue - wrt to new Mac mini - linked to a dell screen - will try the power cycle on the monitor too but have had to power cycle the Mac to get the screen to come back. :(

Same problem here. Really hope it gets fixed soon.
Caldigit TS3 here too with an LG 4K monitor. Never had a problem and nothing has changed but BigSur. Unplug the monitor cable and plug it back in and all works correctly.
