Canon iSensysMF4350d

Good Day to All,

I have a Canon isensys MF4350d, attached to either my, MAC MINI server(2.66ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB memory) with MAC OS X Server 10.6.4, or a MAC Book Pro MAC OS X 10.5.8 via USB

NO matter what I do, I can't get it to print..I've already downloaded the drivers from the apple website (CanonPrinterDrivers2.3.dmg) but still nothing...I'm guessing either my printer driver is wrong or my settings are wrong. If it's the driver, where can I get the proper driver?can anyone post a link?if it's my settings, what must I change?

Pls and THnx for the help!

Mac OS X (10.5.8)

HI,

Try repairing disk permissions.

Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Thnx so much Pahu, I'll give it a try, will this solution work for both my mac mini and macbook pro?

Additional data on my problem.an hour ago while i was in the office (and before i saw this post), i tried printing on TEXT EDIT on my MACBOOKPRO and it worked, immediately afterwards I tried printing on PAGES (still on my macbook pro) and it didnt work again. I interchanged it a couple of times, and it works on textedit but not on pages, i tried the same experiment on my mac mini and for both applications I could not print at all. Also the SCANNER feature of the printer works on my MAC MINI, its jsut the printing that's the problem.

anyway, just additional data.Ill try out this solution first thing tom morning.

thnx so much!

Good Day Pahu,

I've tried the drivers you gave, and it worked..my macbook PRO can now print on the Canon printer. Although i tried the same trick on my macmini, yet still it doesnt work..same error...error -9783...I checked the link you gave me and it says its compatible up to 10.6.3, but my macmini is 10.6.4, could this be the problem?

I know these questions must be posted on the snow leopard page, but I already have and still no answers, so my apologies if im breaking any rules.

Thank you for you help

No. Even though Canon has only indicated 10.6.3, it works on 10.6.4. It is rare for any driver to stop working with a minor update so usually it is enough to say that it works with 10.6.x.

Not sure why the SL Server would be getting the error. When it is connected to the Mini, if you open an application like TextEdit and select to print, then change the print dialog to Special Features, do you get information about the printer or a message stating that the printer information could not be obtained?

I don't think that you are breaking any rules. Since you are using both OS's then it doesn't really matter which forum you use. I am however surprised that you did not get any answers on the SL printing forum. I also respond their and don't remember your posting....

Hmm...I haven't tried that..I'll look into it when i get back to the office...i dunno if this is a symptom...i reset my printers twice at system preferences and unlike my macbook PRO when print on text edit the printer is already there (without adding). But for the mac mini, I still have to add it before text edit can see the printer.

Thnx again for all the help!

Work resumes on Sat and Ill try again then

If you open an application like TextEdit and then select to print, within the print dialog you can change the menu to Special Features. Note that with the print dialog open, if you only see the printer name and the Presets menu, then you need to press the disclosure triangle next to the printer name. This will expand the print dialog and show other options, including the menu that lets you change to Special Features.

Hi Pahu,

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, but there's no error, it can read my printer, I was able to click Printer Info and I can see the configuration and stuff. there are 2 columns, ITEM and CONTENTS, item #1-Communication Method, contents #1 - Unidirectional, item #2 - Duplexing Unit, contents #2-Available.

I cleared up my CANON printers and reinstalled the ones you posted again, but still error -9783 occurs.

What does this error mean?

Thank you very much!

I have no information about the error code. I have not seen the -9783. I can cause an error of -9781 if I disconnect my MF4380dn USB cable and attempt to print to it. But I don't seem to be able to create the -9783 error so I don't know what this could be referencing as a cause.

At this stage I suggest you delete the printer queue and then the UFR II driver files. The UFR2 folder resides in HD > Library > Printers > Canon. You will also need to delete the file "jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist" which is located in HD > Library > LaunchAgents. Then open Activity Monitor and Force Quit the UFRII Backgrounder service. Last step is to empty the Trash and then restart the Mac. Once restarted, run the UFR2 v2.10 installer again and add the printer queue once the install is complete.

Hope this helps...

Hi Pahu,

Ok, with that method the printer is now reacting to the MAC. But the error message (on the printer) is showing up when I print and error -9783 is still appearing in the MAC. But at least now they seem to be communicating with each other.

What other else can I do?thnx so much!

NOTE: I was able to print 1 page on TEXT EDIT, but after that, nothing again.
