Why is there a delay between mail arriving and notification? Anyone else not receiving notifications on Mail.app?

This issue has not been resolved with macOS Big Sur.

It seems Apple have known about it for years but this bug is still there.

I am now seeing banner notifications but still no sounds set in Mail's preferences, with Notifications on or off.

I have the same problem too. I've spoken with a senior tech about it several times and it is definitely something the engineers are aware of and working on. It is intermittent on both my iMac and MacAir. Probably have to wait for 10.10.3 until it's fixed. Only consolation at this point is that it isn't your settings or your machine.
