Cannot connect to smb server on my router

Hi everyone! I updated my Mac with Catalina a few days ago, and I cannot connect to my HDD on my router.

With Mojave I had no problems, I went in finder, Go, Server connect (I have Italian Mac OS) and I Log with User and password.

Now the log doesn't work anymore but there isn't any error message. it just don't work as if the password is not right.

HDD is working fine, I can connect with my fire TV, so the problem is not there.

I don't know what to do.

Hope you can help me.

Thanks!

MacBook, OS X 10.11

Hi Michele_R,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. From our understanding, you are not able to connect to a shared server, do we have that right? If so, are you following the steps in this article: Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers. What version of macOS Catalina is currently installed on you Mac? the latest is macOS 10.15.7. Check out How to update the software on your Mac. Once up to date, check to see if this continues.

Hope that helps!

Michele_R,

Thank you for the follow up. To confirm, you've tried going to Finder > Go > Connect to Server and entering the URL of the server? Do we have that right? Is it being entered in one of these formats:  smb://10.0.1.1 or   smb://servername.local?

Also, do you have any third party firewalls or anti-virus software that may be interfering with the connection? If so, you may want to disable them and attempt to connect again.

Hi, raina_b22.

First of all, thanks for your reply. You are right, I'm not able to connect to a shared server (A USB Hard disk on my router). I have Catalina 10.15.7, I think it's the last version. I read the article you linked, and the steps are the same that I followed when I first connected more than a year ago. I had no problem at all, until the update to Catalina...

Anyway, I temporarily solved the problem connecting to the server directly through the router page, but I cannot connect by Finder. I don't know why and I can't fix it...
