Iphone XS Max stuck on erase

Just got the 12 and I want to give my phone to my friend. I cannot get it off the erase status with the apple logo. It stared fine and then stopped and has been stuck without any progress. HELP!!!!

I pressed volume up, then volume down, then the held the button on the other side until it shut off and it restarted on it's own

Same exact thing going on with mine as well. iPhone XS Max has been erasing for 12 hours and still stuck at about 90% and not moving. Help!!

I finally force quit my phone and then it restarted as a brand new phone! Hope this helps.
