do I need to upgrade my Mac memory in pairs

I am looking to upgrade the RAM in my 2019 27inch iMac. I currently have 2 memory slots available. Do I need to install the new modules in pairs?

For optimal memory performance, DIMMs should be the same capacity, speed, and vendor. Use Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules (SO-DIMM) that meet all of these criteria:

PC4-21333
Unbuffered
Nonparity
260-pin
2666MHz DDR4 SDRAM
