Can't connect my AirPods to my MacBook Pro

My question is that, I can't seem to connect my AirPods to my MacBook Pro. It comes in the list on bluetooth but when I hit connect it won't seem to connect, I tried clicking over and over again, but failed. I wondered if anyone knew why this is happening. Thanks!!
