Adding Hue to HomeKit

I recently changed my router to a Draytek Vigor 2860. I use these in my day job and like their interface and capabilities.

I thought I would post my experience with this router as I could not find any reference to this router in any support articles whilst adding Hue to Homekit. The same would apply to any other router with similar capabilities.

The first thing is to ensure that Bonjour is supported/enabled on the router, this is mentioned in many Hue and Homekit connection issues. Head to Applications > Bonjour and enable it and the additional settings you require. I have all mine on as I use Apple kit a lot. However it is not the only thing you need to check. Your router must also support Multicast or IGMP. I turned this on and by default IGMP snooping was turned on which effectively limits IGMP to ports that are part of the multicast group. Again head to Applications > IGMP and make sure this is enabled and untick the IGMP snooping unless you use multicast grouping. This caused the issues I was experiencing and by disabling the IGMP snooping I was able to add Hue to Homekit in seconds.
