Safari freeze when create a password in safari or reset a password

So what is the answer? This is so frustrating as I cannot any any passwords and we are always updating. Apple - I bought the iPhone 12 but no point if it doesn’t work properly. So frustrated.

Apple clearly haven’t tested Safari properly on iOS14. Apple need to issue a hot fix for this, before I unleash this story on my Facebook Group 120K members, and Tweet this repetitively.

Come on Apple, this is just careless...

I created a ticket with Apple regarding this issue. It is driving me nuts and tickets help get problems addresses. I encourage others to make tickets so dev team is aware of the coding issue.

no problems with any other browser on iPad. Only safari. All password entry causes extreme lag and sometimes browser crashing. No other action causes a problem. Likely some sort of memory leak issue when the browser looks for saved passwords.

In safari, go to bottom right what looks like two squares, that is to open a new web page. Once it opens, you will see private on the bottom left hand side. Choose that and your done. It worked for me.

I think I found the solution.

For me at least turning on two-factor authentication solved the issue.

It kinda ***** cause I rather not have it but oh well.

p.s. Apple gives you two weeks to turn two-factor authentication off in case it doesn’t work for you.

Yeah... two factor authentication is big time wack! I get why someone might need something like that but not when you have 15 different devices using the same Apple ID. You have to go hunting around the house for the device with the 6 digit code on it lol 😂

This problem was making my phone unusable. It would freeze for about 30 seconds every time I needed a password and username. And you couldn’t exit out of the window. So a minute plus, that’s if Safari didn’t crash.

For now I’m always bouncing back and forth between Lastpass and Safari (again).

I hope Apple addresses this.

I had the same problem on ios14 and later

You can solve the problem according to the following method

Deactive and active again autofill password

Settings > Passwords > Autofill Password

(Deactive and Active Again 😊)

Ok! I'm in the same class of users as you - I don't want to use autofill ever on anything, so this did the trick for me!!! This works flawlessly on a site that failed yesterday and costs me precisely nothing!!!

Yes, as you said, navigating this menu was excruciatingly slow on both my iPad and my iphone (pro max 12, so whatever is going on, it's not processor speed that is the issue) but thanks to your heads-up, I was ready for that and waited it out! On top of that, a tap wouldn't disabling the toggle as it normally does. I eventually figured out that if I slowly dragged it over and just lingered for a while without removing my finger that it worked.

Incognito is not working for me anymore. It seemed to work for a day and then stopped.

I was thinking about going to 2 factor authentication. Any feedback from someone who tried that would be appreciated.

Same problem on macOS 11, it's not an iOS-unique problem, it's a wider issue

Same problem on iPad and iPhone since update. Apple claims not related to update. Per apple things I’ve tried: hard reset, reset network settings, and finally a complete reset. Nothing worked.
