iOS 14 and Apple pencil

Since the update to IOS 14 my Apple Pencil won’t work right with my Words with Friends game app. Instead of dragging a letter it just draws a line that disappears. I have to use my finger. So essentially it doesn’t work with it. But it works in dragging items in other games. It also won’t call up my larger keyboard when I tap on the screen. It brings up a tiny keyboard. If I want the large keyboard I have to tap in the space with my finger, and then it leaves two characters I didn’t want and I have to backspace to remove them. Any ideas how to correct these two issues.
