My iCloud mailbox rebuild is disabled

I recently had to re-add my iCloud account to Catalina mail, and it has two problems, one is that it is stuck in "downloading 1 of xxxxxx" and two, the main one, I wanted to rebuild the mailbox but the "Rebuild" menu entry is grayed out so I can't rebuild the iCloud mailbox. I can't phrase the issue correctly, or else no one has had this issue before, because I can't find a solution.


Has anyone had the "Rebuild" menu entry in Catalina mail disabled, and can you tell me why?

Are you using two factor authentication account set with Apple ID account , did you deleted the iCloud account from internet accounts and once again added , in the upcoming steps an option comes to check the mail .

How is your account set up .

Is apple id and password same as you gmail address and its password and signed in system preferences , the iCloud features are turned as on .

Or do you have web based iCloud account https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204174

And you are trying to add this in internet accounts .

In IMAP account if you select junk folder > the iCloud folder take cursor on mailbox the rebuild will always be greyed , however in inbox / sent section iCloud mail box will not be greyed .
