I need to immediately know when any email from a particular sender arrives. Timing is of the essence here.
I have set them up as a VIP with an alert.
How can I ensure that as long as my iphone is switched on, I immediately get the alert?
Is new mail only updated in Mail when I go into the Mail app? Is there a way to be immediately alerted even when the Mail app is not the active open app on my phone?

Check your mail Fetch and Notification settings by following the steps outlined in this helpful article under the "Check Mail Fetch and Notification settings" section:
If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
You would want Fetch New Data to be set to Push.

Thanks for your reply. I've followed those instructions. Fetch new data is already set to Push. When I go into Fetch New Data further it lists this email account and it says Fetch, not Push. When I go into that, it's only possible to set it as Fetch or Manual.

The availability of Push or Fetch is set my the mail provider. Some mail providers may not have that option. We recommend contacting the mail provider for assistance.
