Final Cut Pro x lost timeline

Worked for hours editing project. I had designated the working folder that was on an external drive.

I closed the computer to take it home and without thinking, disconnected it from the external drive-it seems as FCP was saving everything there.

When I started back this am, I saw the error message that the backup or whatever location couldn't be found. (I think that was echoed as I was shutting things down.)

Now I can accessed the external drive and see my folder.

But the unnamed project and that timeline is gone.

Do I have to start over from scratch and import that original material again?

Thanks, Tim

Probably not, unless you disconnected the drive while it was still mounted.

The default location for the FCP library is your Movies folder. There’s probably a library called Untitled in there. Is that the library you were working in? Also, do a Finder search for .fcpbundle, which is the library extension. See what comes up.
