Update Contact banner in iMessages

I keep getting an ‘update contact’ banner on certain threads in Messages. I can press the ‘x’ option and it goes away, but comes back in a day or so. If I select “Update Contact”, it comes back again a day or so later. Any one else having this issue and know how to fix it? I included a screenshot. I’ve tried deleting the contact and re-adding it. I’ve tried using only gmail contacts synced and not iCloud contacts; it still comes back consistently.

Okay, I was able to have the individual turn off ‘share name and photo’ under Settings > Messages > Share Name and Photo > set to “Off.” This seems to have stopped the looping update notification banner, even though the end user was not updating their photo. This had to be turned off on the end user’s iPad; the end user’s iPhone was already set to ‘No’ for sharing name/photo.

What happens if you delete that particular message? I've only experienced this message when my son updated his contact. I accepted it and it has been fine since. You say that you tried deleting the contact, moving your contacts to Gmail, and not using iCloud. Have you tried restarting the phone, resetting the phone? There are other things, however they will affect your data. You can try going to Settings>General>Reset>Resent Network Settings. Understand that will also delete all your wi-fi passwords too.
