Big Sur Time Machine backup issue

Prior to Big Sur, I have been using a Seagate 1TB USB drive connected to a Netgear router and performed successful TM backups over the network for couple of years. After upgrading to Big Sur, TM showed that it is doing backup all the way through but after it is done, it reported last successful date to the day before the Big Sur upgrade. When I entered into TM, it didn't show any of the days since the upgrade, so I think TM backups are failing. Has anyone else seen a similar issue?

I managed to find a different USB drive and started from a TM backup from scratch and it worked. Basically, it looked like Big Sur corrupted my backup under Catalina.

Side note, Apple engineers told me it's not their problem since I am not using an Apple product, so yeah F U from them. Makes me wonder why I am giving Apple so much money, how's Microsoft Surface looking I wonder, might be time to switch back to Windows.
