I am not able to install Mac OS Big Sur.... I am getting this message "Update not found.... The requested version of macOS is not available."

It would be most helpful if you would tell us what year and model Mac you have as well as what operating system you are currently running. Then we could better determine if your Mac is capable of accepting an upgrade to Big Sur. Incidentally, if you are searching for an update, that will not get you to Big Sur. To install Big Sur is an upgrade, not an update. I would check at the Apple App Store.

You have to have minimum of Late 2013. Mid 2013 isn't supported. (although having a problem on one of our computers which is actually a Late 2013 which can't get the update to show up, or trigger download without error like the OP states above)

Thanks for getting back to me.

I assume your Mac is fully update to date, what version of MacOS are you running currently? If you try the link again does it give you the same error?

If you still get the same error, one thing you can try is grabbing the install assistant which will allow you to get the full installer just as you would from the App Store link. When the .pkg downloads, install it and the Install MacOS Big Sur installer will be installed in your applications folder. From their, back up your Mac and install normally.

My strong advice is not to update your OS at this time. I have a similar Macbook Pro to you, which is now doing sterling service as a doorstop.

Big Sur boke my laptop.

I understand that while Apple is not accepting any responsibility for the issue, they have prevented upgrades to late 13/mid 14 machines.

You should try resetting the SMC and NVRAM and see if that addresses the issue.

One thing you could try is getting the install assistant and install manually which I can share if the above link doesn't work.

Yes. From App Store, on clicking get button it directs me to settings update section where I get same error.

May be apple doesn't want to push Big Sur on 2019 MBP as there were cases of breakdown after MBP 2019 upgrade.

Could you have just reinstalled MacOS rather then downgrade, what operating system did you before you had to delete your data? Just wondering.

You can find the download link for MacOS Catalina 10.15 or MacOS Mojave 10.14.

Given that updating/upgrading to macOS Big Sur from macOS Mojave and above is done via "Software Updates" in System Preferences rather than an App Store app as in prior macOS versions - and that the above language is specifically taken from the "Software Updates" dialog - it would appear that update is Apple's preferred language for this particular item.
