IMovie Issue

When I try to save to file, it does, but is blank. Zero bytes, etc. I swear this happened to me years ago and I was missing a driver or something. BTW, had to rebuild it recently.

Thanks

Hi, Ardfarkl,

Is it possible that you tried to open the temporary file before actual completion of the rendering? When you save-to-file iMovie will create a temporary 0 byte file to aid it in rendering the movie in real time. The temporary file appears on your desktop and disappears a short time after the export is completed, and an .Mp4 or .mov file will appear on your desktop in its stead. If you try to open the temporary file before it disappears, you will get a 0 byte result.

In the event that the above is not your situation, you can try deleting preferences and see if that solves it. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
