I updated to Big Sur and now no longer can see all of the files on my hard drive. Where did they go?

I updated to Big Sur and now no longer can see all of the files on my hard drive. Where did they go? I now only have folders for Applications, Library, system and users.

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 11.0

Go to your System/Apple ID/iCloud preference pane and see if the iCloud Disk is checked. If it is click on the Options button and see what is selected in the Options window.


Upgrades between systems often ask the user if they want to enable iCloud or iCloud Drive and may do so because they are in a hurry to get thru the installation and don't realize what the consequences will be.
