Carplay not working after IOS 14.2

I had the same problem with my new SE 2nd gen. Senior advisor said engineers recommended that I disable Screentime. Did that. Plugged it in and it works. CarPlay now displays on General tab, which it didn’t out of the box. Why that was a factory preset is a good question for the engineers.

I had the same problem. It certainly works by disabling the assistive touch; but I found a way that works without disabling... just make sure you turn off the Perform Touch Gesture in the AssistiveTouch options. The wheel stars working on CarPlay and you continue to have AT.

Thanks Miguel! It works for me too after seeing your post by disabling the iPhone assistive touch. I just hope Apple can remedy this issue without us having to disable the assistive touch.

i also have the same problem as you. i thought i had the clicking wheel doesn’t work on Carplay. but not all of the wheels are fine in the car. But carplay alone has problems with ios 14.2

I have one I phone XS and after update it to iOS 14.2 the car play in my Mercedes GLA does not operate as it used to . I checked (path : Car Play - My cars - Customise) and at the Customise, although it is mentioned that through the page I could organise apps to show in car play's Home screen, most of the apps were locked and I couldn't unlock them . The only option available is to remove them. I followed your suggestion and I disabled the Assistive Touch and now its working perfectly. Thanks for a very useful tip

Not sure what made the difference but the music just played as normal when I went out in the car this morning. Unfortunately I had already deleted the link various times, reset the mazda system (and lost all my settings, favourites etc in the process) and disconnected cellular data and wifi (which lost me contact with my Apple support person!) However at least I am driving with music once again!!

I have the exact same problem. Mine it’s a Mazda 2 2021 with an iPhone 11 with iOS 14.2. When I connect my phone to the car, the clicking wheel doesn’t work on Carplay, but it does when it’s on the Mazda’s menu. I was thinking that the clicking wheel was damaged but works perfectly on the Mazda main menu. Now I have to be park if I want to navigate to the screen because the touchscreen function blocks every time that the car it’s moving

I thought that the clicking wheel was damaged but it works perfectly on the Mazda main menu. I hope they solve that problem on a next update, because now I have to be parked every time that I want to navigate on the CarPlay screen, that’s because the touchscreen blocks every time the car it’s moving

I’m having sane problem. CarPlay worked great u Tim the newest update. Shows on screen but when I touch the icons it doesn't work. Works very sporadically. I have done all the “fixes” suggested and still not working properly. I have an iPhone XR

is it better to just delete the latest update?

if so, how do u do that? Need my CarPlay!

Sounds similar issue. I have iPhone 11 Pro and play music through car mazda infotainment system via Bluetooth. Not got CarPlay. Got update to 14.2 and now says ‘unable to browse connected device’ for music but is accessing phone & contacts. Checked assistive touch but it was off anyway. Any ideas?

Thanks. I had the same problem with my Merc GLA after my iPhone 11 Pro got iOS 14.2 update. However now the problem is solved after I disabled assistive touch. I hope Apple finds a solution to this problem
