External Display USB-c Monitor issue

I have a MacBook Air M1 (base model) and a LG 27QN880-B 27” QHD connected via USB-c. I keep my MacBook Air open because I use it as a Secondary screen and the LG (primary).

The issue (2) is that when I wake up the MacBook Air from sleep the monitor doesn't turn on. I have to unplug and plug again the USBc to turn on (sometimes I have to do it multiple times). Second issue, the performance seems to be a bit choppy and sometimes laggy (cursor seems to skip sometimes) with the external display connected.

This used to not happen before (MacBook Pro Intel Mid-2018), I would imagine with the M1, things would run smoother... but it's otherwise.. worries me a bit...

To let you know, I used "time machine" and restored my MacBook Air from the MacBook Pro content would this also cause issues as I'm seeing?

Thank you All!

Update: I exchanged my MacBook Air M1 for a new one... after all the troubleshooting and no solution.

No more issues with the external monitor anymore upon waking up the MacBook Air.

I am running BigSur 11.1

BUT I still have mouse issues.. with the mouse cursor skipping around sometimes.. I have a Logi MX Anywhere 3 (changed from the MX anywhere 2). I now use the wireless dongle and no issues.. It saddens that I cannot use bluetooth mouse.. :(

When waking up, my Macbook recognize my QHD display (connected via USB-C to USB-c) as a 1080p display. This happens sometimes, it may not happen for a week and the appear again. My solution for the time is plug it and unplug it until it recognize it correctly (it may involve 10 or 20 unplugs).

This issue was not present in MacOs Catalina, so its a Big Sur bug.

The issue is still here on update 11.2.3. Will not wake up a LG UltraFine Display 21.5 inch that Apple sold me, and that had worked in the previous OS. Rez still wrong. Same LG 38" curved display. What happened Apple going backwards. This is the same situation with BenQ and a lot of Hi Rez monitors. They had this all worked out in previous OS versions! What's up????

That is very disappointing news.. Even more so, as I believe, it is a statement that Apple doesn't care. Obviously their M1 line is doing well and they will have many new acquisitions because of it. So the support of their flagship 16" MacBook Pro line is down in the drains as their focus has shifted. This is very, very disappointing for me. Luckily my Macbook is still under warranty, so I will be diligently considering going to the local distributor and throwing it back to Apple to get a refund. I was very much hopeful that 11.2 would fix all problems with external screens.

That's pretty ridiculous if true. I'm currently using a Thunderbolt dock that Apple sells online. It only has USB-C and DisplayPort for monitor inputs. So now I've got to go from HDMI > DVI > USB-C on my dock and hope that it works?? Yikes.

Guess I'll try HDMI > USB-C first and report back.

For context USB-C to USB-C directly from my monitor also doesn't work properly.
