HP & Big Sur

Question

HP & Big Sur

After I updated my iMac with Big Sur it will not allow me to use my HP Printer. Upset, I continued to reach out to apple support and was finally told that my Mac OS 11.0.1 needs another driver from HP in order to work. I reached out to HP and NO ANSWER Does apple or anyone know when they will have the compatible software? I don't believe upgrading should have me toss the printer.

If I have no other choice e, and have to toss, does anyone know which printer will be compatible with Apple's BIG SUR?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 11.0

HP had a routine driver update on 11/12/2020 for Macs. You should go to the HP website and look for updates for your particular model of printer and update your drivers. I have an HP Officejet Pro 8610, and it is working fine with Big Sur.

Still me. I found a HP Easy Start update on HP website after a short search. You must first give your model, then you fin the link to the app. It's easy. For me, everything now OK.

Hi,

I live in Switzerland and I also noticed that. HP Easy scan and HP Smart don't work (I have a Color Laser jet Pro MFP M281fdw). But you can still print and scan. You can scan using settings, then printers and scanners. It works for me.

I have an Epson printer, but also encountered problem after downloading Big Sur. My problem was mostly solved by again downloading the printer software from Epson. After I did that the printer worked with my computers. If you have not tried that, it may help. I think software is being constantly upgraded to keep up with OS changes.

To get my old Deskjet 3050 working, I downloaded the HP drivers from their website. They would not install normally and I eventually used Pacifist. Now I have a working pronter and scanner again.

We are fellow users, and have no inside HP or Apple information. If you had provided the specific HP printer model, we could look it up on the HP site to determine if HP has discontinued, or has released new driver support for it. If it is recent enough, it may be supported by Apple's AirPrint technology included with Big Sur.

I had that problem with my Epson WF2760. The solution for me was to download and reinstall the drivers and other software.

My Deskjet 1500 series may be old but NEVER A PROBLEM. Worked fine for scanning, printouts, etc. I did contact Apple AND HP and was told HP doesn’t have software update to configure with Big Sur and my model.

Long story short and after many hours on phone, a new printer purchased.

Shame on Apple for not putting out a message ahead of their upgrade warning that all devices might not work and should check

I tried to download the HP Easy Start. Then my Mac said it was a malware contained within the application, so I deleted it. It is so maddening when you try to upgrade your computer and then can't use your printer. Anyone else have any ideas on what printer that works with Big Sur?
