Just got my mac mini m1 connected to my Samsung ultra-wide monitor and it defaults me to 3840x1080. I was under the impression that the Mac Mini 2020 M1 could drive a 5k monitor. Please advise.

You´re absolutely on point here! I just bought M1 mini and tell you what, I´m experiencing same issues. I was about to opt for a samsung CRG monitor but I think I´ll pass. What I always liked about the Apple products, they go through some severe back testing and only release when the product is ready! But this time around, they´ve missed it completely! I am going to return my Mac mini m1 next week.
Indeed, this time apple working like in startup spirit, it was risky and it's good that a big company do that. About the monitor, since more of 1 month and he new version of Big Sur, I don't have any problem with resolution. I have the max resolution

No, I'm using WIFI. In fact, I can't get the DP working on my Mac Mini M1. I have a cheap cable from Amazon. Which cable do you have working with your mac mini m1?
What model Samsung, and how is it connected? Thunderbolt 3 can handle 5K. Other connections may be limited.
I had the same thing. I was jumping for joy, then rebooted and never came back. Did you get any further?
Be aware that Apple has confirmed this is a software/driver issue and will be resolved in a future release.
Big Sur public beta 11.2 has not resolved the problem. No change in M1 Mini behaviour from above description.
Looking forward to a fix from Apple soon.
Not HDMI on 1.2 - change Display port from v1.4 to v1.2 :-) HDMI doesn't support 5120x1440@120.

Hi Antisthene! My CRG90 cannot use HDMI 1.2 - the only two available options for me to choose between are 1.4 and 2.0. And both these give a maximum resolution of 3840x2160 on my Mac Mini 2020 M1.

My C49RG9 display now works with 11.2 (so far) at 5120 x 1440 @120hz SDR on DP1.4 wFreeSync on.
New mid-Rez modes also seem to exist (HDPI?). More to test.
Me too, since today. Directly without tips.
But the only way to have 5120 x 1440 in Mac screen parameter (pressing option + Click on scale)
