Midi notes not playing in GarageBand

I've recently been using GarageBand with my midi keyboard and run into a problem - the first note I play when recording shows up in the track but doesn't play when I play back. It happens every time, regardless of the sound I'm using. The note shows up on the track and if I go in the score it's there and plays if I click it, but when I play the track it doesn't sound.

I've tried copying the track and putting it in a new track, still doesn't sound.

Has anyone had this problem/figured this out?
