Receiving Group Messages with Dual SIM

I am using dual SIM and everything works great except it isn’t allowing me to receive SMS/MMS group messages on my eSIM number. Does anyone know the fix?

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you’re not receiving group messages that are sent to your eSIM number. Are you able to send/receive regular SMS/MMS messages? We’re asking because some carriers require that you have the number set as your default number for cellular data for SMS/MMS abilities.

Try setting your eSIM number as your default for cellular data. The “Change your cellular data number” section of this article will show you how:

If you’re not able to receive the message after trying these steps, you may need to reach out to your eSIM carrier for guidance.

Thank you for the help! My carrier is Verizon and they cannot figure out why I can't send/receive group sms/mms messages. Here is a little more detail:

I can both send and receive SMS/MMS individual messages
I have my phone set so the eSIM number is both the default for cellular data and phone number
I can receive SMS/MMS group messages from certain people, but not all, and cannot send any SMS/MMS group messages with the Apple Messages app
I downloaded Verizon's Message+ app and this does allow me to send and receive SMS/MMS group message to/from certain people
I ran this test:
- Sent a SMS/MMS group message via the Message+ app and all parties received
- Sent a SMS/MMS group message via the Apple Messages app to the same people and it failed to send

I'm starting to think it is a combination of errors between my carrier and my iPhone.
