Audio source on Apple TV 4K

Whenever I stream from Netflix or Amazon prime on my Apple TV 4K it plays it at digital PCM as opposed to Dolby surround. I can get to Dolby surround if I use the LG app on my tv and pass it through to my receiver.

I am using:

LG C9

Arcam AVR10

Apple TV 4K

4K HDMI cables

Apple TV 4K and LG C1 Hello I have question I have an Apple TV 4K 2021 and LG C1, and connected to sonos playbase with surround and sub. When I play YouTube from LG webos the Sonos app shows Dolby digital 2.0 and it sounds louder and better while I play the same YouTube content from Apple TV YouTube app the sonos app shows as stereo pcm and I have to increase the volume to match the webos app. The same happens for curiosity stream and other apps as well. Is there a way to get the Dolby digital 2.0 on the Apple TV ? Many thanks

Apple TV 4k So I have the newest sony oled tv a90j hooked up to my sonos arc surround sound via earc hdmi 2.1. When I play any streaming app Hulu,Netflix,ESPN,YouTube and Disney plus from the google tv that comes with the tv already I get Dolby digital 2.0 or Dolby digital plus 5.0 or Dolby atmos which is great. Now I bought the newest Apple TV 4K and when I play any other app other than Netflix (I get Dolby vision 5.0 if set to Dolby vision or Dolby atmos if set to atmos only on Netflix)all I get is stereo pcm no matter what setting I put on the Apple TV in. Tried Dolby atmos setting on Apple TV or Dolby digital setting on Apple TV and nothing all I get is stereo pcm no matter what app I play Even Apple Music on the Apple TV all I get is stereo pcm. Any ideas as to why or how I can fix it? Or is Apple newest 4K Apple TV can’t pass any Dolby content unless the app actually has it like Netflix for example.

Apple TV 4K connected to TV Vs AV receiver Hi! I have an Apple TV 4K and enjoy the user interface. I want to use the Apple TV to stream music to my audio system. I want to make sure that I’m getting the best audio quality to my 2 channel stereo speaker system. My television is a smart TV with HDMI 2.1 and my AV receiver is HDMI 2.0a. I have the latest 48GBIT HDMI cables. I’m not sure whether to connect the Apple TV 4K to my TV or to the receiver to get the best audio quality to my speakers. I really hope the answer is to the TV because I really like how I can control the TV and Apple TV together. Please help! Thank you!

Apple TV 4K decodes the source audio as PCM Multichannel by design.

(There is a setting to convert to Dolby Digital 5.1 if needed for compatibility.)
