I just got my new MacBook Pro and can't use touch id for App Store purchases

why is it that when downloading a application from the app store it makes me put in my Apple ID and password instead of me being able to use Touch ID. I just got my device not a few hours ago opened it downloaded some apps got the prompt to use Touch ID instead of typing in my password and I pressed yes, after pressing yess I gotten an error. my Touch ID works fie on everything else but the App Store. I tired many thing as in different ways of restarting my MacBook, changing my iCloud settings, password settings, and even going to apple support. please help.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0
