Rotation/Screen lock missing

on my ipad I have screen lock on and then the screen lock icon disappeared and I cannot take my ipad off of screen lock

My iPad screen won’t unlock to rotate. I have swiped down from the top right to make sure the rotate lock is not on. My iPad does not have a side switch. Now what? My iPad screen won’t unlock, even though I checked the control center button to make sure it's not locked, and I don't have a side switch. Now what?

Have you checked the Screen Rotation Lock is not enabled in your Control Centre?
