I am trying to cancel a trial subscription on my apple phone

Open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your Name at TOP) ➔ Subscription : Pick out the subscription that you are attempting to cancel and then tap on it and cancel it.

Did you buy the subscription directly from an app on the iPhone? Was it bought by someone else with you as part of the Family Sharing?
