Password not working after migration from iMac to Macbook Pro

I just completed the migration, over Wi-Fi, of my old iMac to a new MacBook Pro. My iMac is a late 2009 model, running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. The new MacBook Pro contains the brand-new M1 chip (instead of Intel). To kick off the migration, I had to enter my password and the process took a long time (25+ hours), but it worked. After clicking "Done" on my new MacBook Pro, I get a login screen, with my name and picture. When I type my password, it tells me it's wrong, but I KNOW it is correct. In fact, my old iMac restarted too and the password worked just fine.

I've looked at all the forums and have tried the tips to reset the password by restarting in recovery mode (which seems to be the only one that would apply in my situation), but the MacBook Pro just shows me the login screen again.

I'm really itching to start using my new machine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

To follow-up, I finally connected with Apple Support and the issue is now resolved. As a first-time owner of a MacBook Pro (actually, this is my first new Mac since getting the 2009 iMac), I was not aware that the "Cmd + R" had been replaced on Silicon machines by the TouchID key. Holding down this key allowed me to get into the machine and reset my password. So all is good!
