How do I manually install Rosetta 2 on a M1 based Mac running Big Sur?

I downloaded an x86-based App onto an M1-based MacBook Air but either missed the pop-up window “To open “App”, you need to install Rosetta” or clicked Not Now. I can't find the downloaded App in the Applications folder and clicking Open on the x86 application in the App Store does not force the Rosetta install.
