My daughter has an iPad Pro 11inch bought in April 2020
she has dropped it and it has hairline cracks all over the screen but still fully functional.
how much to get it fixed. Am I reading Apple repairs right and it’s $829 to get screen repaired?

The device warranty obviously doesn’t cover accidental damage and smashed screens. A out-of-warranty repair is often quoted as c.60% of the “as new” price of the iPad.
As Apple don’t actually offer a repair service for iPad, for qualifying devices that are still in support, an exchange for a reconditioned iPad of the same model and specification is usually offered - in lieu of an actual repair.
If you had purchased the optional AppleCare+ coverage, the cost would be reduced to a nominal excess/deductible.
