I've just tried to update my Mac to Big Sur but I'm getting a message that my Intego Anti-Virus program is incompatible because it's 32 mg instead of 64. In a recent email I was instructed how to upgrade the program and did so. What's the problem?

I've just tried to update my Mac to the Big Sur operating system but get a message that my Intego anti-virus program is incompatible because it is 32 mg and the new system is 64 mg. A recent( 11/12/20 ) email from Intego gave instructions on how to upgrade to 64 mg which I followed. So why is my antivirus program still incompatible and what do I do about it?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

I respect that you know more about this than I do, but I've gotten notices that the antivirus program has found malware on my computer more than once and I've been given a choice of quarantining it or allowing it to remain. I've always quarantined it of course, but if Mac computers don't need antivirus programs why am I getting these notices of malware from mine?
