I've just tried to update my Mac to Big Sur but I'm getting a message that my Intego Anti-Virus program is incompatible because it's 32 mg instead of 64. In a recent email I was instructed how to upgrade the program and did so. What's the problem?

Ok Bob you've convinced me. I'm a little peeved that this antivirus program, you say I don't need, was sold to me at the apple store three years ago when I bought my machine, but I guess that's water under the bridge! I'll get rid of the anti virus ware, but if my computer gets sick you'll hear from me.

I respect that you know more about this than I do, but I've gotten notices that the antivirus program has found malware on my computer more than once and I've been given a choice of quarantining it or allowing it to remain. I've always quarantined it of course, but if Mac computers don't need antivirus programs why am I getting these notices of malware from mine?

I'm not sure I am comfortable doing what you suggest about uninstalling it because (1) it has intercepted virus attempting to infiltrate my computer in the past and secondly(2) I purchased it at the Apple store when purchasing my computer, so don't know why it would cause problems. lastly, I has not caused any problems until now!
