Transferring to new Mac

I have a 2013 iMac running High Sierra (10.13.6) but it's slowing down and I'm beginning to get antsy about the non solid-state hard drive, so I ordered a new iMac, which is being shipped this week. I couldn't tell from the ordering information what OS will be installed, but I'm sure it will be a later version than my old machine. I'm hoping to do a migration from my Time Machine backup disk, but will the difference in operating systems complicate that process?

You are on the right track! Before you turn on the new Mac for the first time, connect the old Mac's Time Machine External Hard Disk using a USB cable. When you turn on the new Mac it launches Setup Assistant, SA will get to a point where it asks if you are migrating from another Mac. Select, Yes and follow the on-screen prompts and you will be up and running in no time. This method is the safest and quickest method and works every single time.
