I am trying to play a video from the Peloton app, and use a workout app split beside it to view my metrics. When I bring the workout app up from the dock it pauses the Peloton app. Is there an iPad setting to keep videos playing?

Once you open the slide over/split view, then drag down the Notification Center just enough to see the ⏸ button, and press the ⏸ button, then press the button one more time. Once you do, then put the Notification Center away.
It happened to me as well. What I do is that I don’t fully bring down the Notification Center, but bring it down just enough to see the video part. If you don’t quite understand, here is how much I bring it down when I multi task.(Note that this was about a week ago for a picture. The app is what I use to learn how to code)
I'm not understanding your explanation. What are you using the Notification Center for? After beginning a video on one app, I drag my other app up from the dock for split screen. But when I do so, the video app pauses.
I then pause and resume the video and then put the Notification Center away(I mean that once I make the video go again, I put the notification away, like make it be hidden.)
