USB 3.20 gen 2x2 in Thunderbolt

Hi,

I've got a question. Let's say I purchase a USB 3.20 gen 2x2 External SSD like Firecuda with R/W speed around 2000mb/s, will it be compatible with M1 Mac Mini? It has a thunderbolt port/USB 4.

So it should work, right?

Hi dheeraj304red,

We see that you're wanting to know if a USB 3.2 gen 2x2 External SSD will be compatible with the Mac mini (M1, 2020) We will do our best to explain.

Take a look at the Mac mini Tech Specs. Under the Connections and Expansion section, the two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports support USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10GB/s).

If you would like to review information regarding adapters, you may do so here: Adapters for the Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port on your Mac or iPad Pro.

In regard to the device being compatible, we suggest contacting the manufacturer of the drive to ensure that it supports macOS Big Sur and the M1 chip. For information about contacting a manufacturer/company, check out this link: Contact a third-party vendor.

Take care.
