"Your account is locked." message after upgrade to Big Sur

After upgrade to macOS Big Sur I am not able to login with my old MacBook account(which worked on Catalina) - I receive "Your account is locked." message.

Does anyone had similar issue? How to fix it?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.0

Hi msheremeta,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Apple Support Communities. We see that you are getting a message that your account is locked after upgrading to Big Sur.

We're glad to help.

Are you referring to your Apple ID account? If yes, this will help: If your Apple ID is locked or disabled - Apple Support

If this is a different issue, some more details might help:

  • What is the exact wording of the message?
  • Where do you see the message come up?

Take Care.

Hi Michelle,

I have the same problem as msheremeta and Spike-too.

After upgrading to macOS Big Sur, on login screen, when selecting my account and entering the correct password I get a message with exact wording: "Your account is locked".

When entering any other incorrect password I don't get this message.

I suspect this has nothing to do with Apple ID rather operating system bug.

Please help since I can't enter my account for more than a week now.

Take care,

Antonio
