Phone call regarding iCloud security breach

I received a phone call stating my some suspicious activity was occurring in my iCloud account. It said to press 1 to speak to a customer rep. I hung up thinking it wasn’t legit. Need help in confirming if this is Apples protocol.

iPhone 6, iOS 12

No, simply pressing 1 does nothing other than confirm that you are willing to play along with the scam. Such scam attempts rely on the user surrendering their personal or financial to the criminals. If you have not talked to the criminals, or otherwise interacted with them, no further steps are required.

You were wise to hang up.

Apple does not make such calls.

All such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information. The callers will often use number spoofing to pretend they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to ignore the calls or hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.
