Can I merge 2 old accounts with my current one? All are on my MacBook Pro.

MacOS is inherently a multiple-User system. each of the many possible accounts is stored in subdirectories (folders) beginning at the top-level directory named Users:


/Users

your usershortname

Desktop

Documents

Downloads

Pictures

Movies

etc.

your spouse's usershortname

Desktop

Documents

Downloads

Pictures

Movies

etc.

your child's usershortname

Desktop

Documents

Downloads

Pictures

Movies

etc.

your dog's usershortname

Desktop

Documents

Downloads

Pictures

Movies

etc.

There is no automatic way to merge them.


This is a manual way:

Open a Finder window to say, your Documents folder.

Choose New window from the file menu.

navigate the second window to the same directory in the second account. Now you have two windows with similar information, from different accounts.

Drag and drop files to get the two windows to your liking.
