apple id on two phones

Somehow my wife's phone seems to be registered through my apple id. All the pictures I take end up on her phone and vice versa. How do I get her phone off my account? She does not have her own apple id.

You've answered your own question

Because your two phones are signed into iCloud as you they behave as if they are both yours.

To set up her phone independently of yours she needs to sign out of your account on her phone and set up a new Apple ID on her phone and sign into that account on her phone.

It should be a email address she has or she can get a new email address if necessary.

As long as you are both signed into the same Apple ID, if you delete a photo from her phone, it will delete from iCloud, and your phone. The same if true if you delete it from your phone.

If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. You can then go to Settings/Your Name/iCloud and turn off photos syncing.

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. See Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion. Also set up Family Sharing between the IDs to keep access to your apps/purchases.

Great. Is all I need for doing that an email address for her? She and I share the same email address. Can I just give her a different user id or does it have to be one's email address?

Also wondering if you could tell me:

  1. When I delete one of those shared images on her phone, is it gone fom my icloud account? What about vice versa?
  2. How can I stop my pictures from going to icloud? I don't need it and I don't want to be finding them going in all kinds of places I have to keep track of.
  3. Some pictures have mysteriously ended up on my Amazon Echo Show. Any explanation?

Thanks!
