Unable to make or receive calls on Apple Watch without my iPhone being nearby

I have just bought iPhone 12 and series 6 cellular watch but I can’t make or receive calls without having my phone nearby - Why ?

Have you set up the cellular plan?.

Set up cellular on Apple Watch
