Apple ID change consequences

I want to change Apple ID to a new email but I wonder what will happen to my @icloud.com email account. Will it still be active?

Let's say my current Apple ID is ABC@gmail.com and I'm using ABC@icloud.com, I want to change Apple ID to 123@yahoo.com. Will ABC@icloud.com still be active after the change?

I also know for sure that 123@icloud.com is not available, already in use by somebody else, would it be a problem somehow?

ABC@icloud.com will be active after the change.

Note the restrictions in the article.

What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support I suggest doing this before you change your Apple ID or password.
