I first tried resetting network settings which helped a little bit, but what actually fixed it was that I backed up my phone then I did a “Erase All Contents and Settings”. Basically that did a wipe and clear of the phone then I installed the backup. Knock on wood but I haven’t had any issues with WiFi or cellular data. The WiFi at my house rocks and getting the speeds as expected, also cellular data seems much better. I know that is pretty drastic but in reality it’s not that bad to do. Nothing different than getting a new phone and transferring your data over.

After much investigation it was recommended that I update the firmware on my router. After two weeks without any issues I can say definitively say that this did the trick. For those of you having this issue, try this and see if it helps. I look forward to hearing if this fix works for everyone, or if it was just a "one-off" fix for my system.

Happy updating!

As a suggestion to all, my husband is having the same problem with his iPhone 12 Pro, I have the 12 pro Max and am not having the problem. As a thought to you all. First back up your phone to a computer. Then use iTunes to UPDATE (note Update not restore) update the update on the phone. See if you have the problem, If it continues, then wipe the phone but DO NOT RESTORE THE UPDATE FROM THE COMPUTER, why because you will reload the problem back one the phone. Let it restore from iCloud your data. If you still have the problem, contact Apple Support the more people who report the problem the better chances of a fix. Currently this is what I am doing. Since all other devices work, and work on other networks then its got to be something in the phone. Either software or hardware.

I am having the same problem. Works ok in the house on WiFi. But on leaving the house it is hit and miss and 80% time will drop out. The phone also gets very hot.

Today I was thinking of what could cause it. One thing that came to mind was I have Norton Mobile Security installed on the phone. Knowing that it can block the internet I started to play with it and turned it off. I found when turned off I had no problems. Turn it back on and all data stopped again.

Does anyone else have Norton Mobile Security installed?

Taking into consideration the last two comments above me in and previous one earlier in this thread I’ve come to the conclusion that it is very likely an app on our phones causing this issue. For me I believe it’s the DoorDash application for somebody else earlier it was a security app. I noticed on my Samsung galaxy note 10+ that I was having issues with my data whilst loading DoorDash at various times. I would load the app and then Wi-Fi and cell would be disconnected for about 10 to 30 seconds. Worst case scenario I had to reboot the phone. I didn’t have this issue with my iPhone 11 but then again I only used that phone for a week prior to purchasing the iPhone 12 pro max.

I chose Apple because their vetting process for applications is higher than android and security as well but I feel like this issue needs to be addressed. I’ll try deleting the DoorDash app and see if that helps resolve the issue. It’s just inconvenient because I just purchased this phone and now I’m troubleshooting it like I’m in a beta program.

My wife's iPhone 12 pro max is also having this issue. Doesn't seem to matter if the MagSafe case is on or not. Toggling airplane mode doesn't help. Only turning off the phone, rebooting the router, and turning the phone back on seems to work for local networks. Which she can't do at work. Her phone has barely worked with our carrier network the past month.

Both myself and my wife have the 12 pro max. I do have a VPN app on mine for work but she does not. We are both having the same issue no matter WiFi or cell data. I have performed many network resets, power cycle of the phone, turn off/on wifi, and did a factory reset on the phone and reinstalled everything but still the issue. I have made sure my modem FW is updated as well I have a unifi wap installed to extend my modem wifi. I though at first it was the wap but I have turned it down but still have the problem. I went to my brothers and he has a modem as well a unifi wap but he has a iphone SE (new in December 2020) with no issues, also my sister in law has an android phone (new in December 2020) no issues at all with her android phone. I have researched many things but nothing. When I had my iphone 6plus before the 12 pro max the 6plus never had this issue with the same modem/router. My wife had a iphone 8plus and also had NO issues. I have upgraded IOS to 14.6 but still having the same issues. I am scheduling time at an Apple store with my phone since I have the full warranty until December 2021 and I want this fixed as it is extremely irritating, especially after getting what I thought was the top line iphone. If anybody else has any input (including Apple) it will be appreciated.
